MEMBRANE MECHANISMS OF ALKYLATING AGENTS LONG-TERM EFFECTS

L.B. Bondarenko, V.N. Kovalenko

As a result of experimental data (from last 30 years) analysis it has been shown that quantitative and qualitative changes of biomembranes structural components (both proteins and lipids) were the universal primary step in realisation of embryotoxic, gonadotoxic, mutagenic, carcinogenic and other alkylating agents long-term effects. Character of these changes depended on not only chemical structure of alkylating compound, but also on nature and state of the whole organism and target cell.
