REWIEWS SOME QUESTIONS OF TOXICITY AND SECONDARY EFFECTS OF PYROGENIC SILICA CONCENTRATESBurushkina T.N. and others The influence of aerosil (pyrogenic silica) suspended in water on structural changes of internal organs, parameters of blood and other biochemical factors (including immune status) of white rats was studied. The treatment consists in long-term (3 months) daily per os input of concentrated aqueous aerosil suspension(scaled to 0,5 g of dry silica per 1 kg of the weight of the animal). As well as the specialties of the after-effects of the immobilization-and-cold stress for preliminary single treated by silica animals were watched. Long-term treatment of white rats by input of concentrated aerosil is not followed by animals' death and structural changes of the internal organs. Nevertheless these animals have depressed immune status, widened and plethoric vessels of the cortex layer of the kidneys. The differences in effect of the immobilization-and-cold stress on stomach of the white rats that were preliminary treated with aerosil concentrate and non-treated animals are significant. |
