CONTAMINATION OF DRINKING WATER WITH PESTICIDE RESIDUES, REGULATORY LIMITS, ANALYTICAL METHODS, RISK ASSESSMENT

The analyses of drinking water contamination with pesticides residues are conducted. The list of pesticides, which are priority for water control in Ukraine, and recommendation for their regulation, methods of control and risk assessment of their entering by water is done.

Regulatory limits for pesticides in waters should have the following characteristics: definition of the residue, explanation for the basis for each limit and a suitable analytical method for the residues limits may be derived by applying a safety factor to a no-effect-level, or from levels occurring when good practices are followed and also passing a safety assessment, or from the detection limit of an analytical method, or directly by legislative decision.

The possibility of accumulation of pesticides in silt, water plant and water fowl is taken into account.
